Di Smith - A short biography
Since graduating from NIDA , Diane has had a successful acting career in the theatre and on screen, including The Sydney Theatre Company, MTC ,Malthouse, SATC, as well performing in many commercial productions and musical theatre.
On TV ,she travelled for ten years on 'The Great Outdoors' for Network Seven and is well known from many of Australia's best-known television dramas, from The Restless Years, Cop Shop, GP,Water Rats, Fire and Fallen Angels, to ABC children’s TV. She is best known and well loved as Dr Alex Fraser in the classic Australian series A Country Practice.
Recently she appeared in Redfern Now and Rake for the ABC and as Deputy Grantham in the 8 part TV series "Puberty Blues" for Southern Star /Endemol. She is currently senior course manager at NIDA Corporate and associate producer for the TV pilot 'Subject to Change'

Currently she is working with actor , writer and director Matt Day , as producer, on a series of short films, working title "Death by Lifestyle".
"Perry" has been an official selection at Palm Springs Shprt Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival and Western Australian Film Festival.
She is an experienced teacher and drama coach - at NIDA Corporate and the Open Program, as well as The Actors Centre , Screenwise and The Macdonald College for Performing Arts.
Di was drama coach for 5-8 yr old actors in 'Penelope K by the Way' for the BBC and ceebeebies.
